This technical indicator is known as a "golden cross," when a stock's 50-day moving average (DMA) crosses over its 200-day moving average. Investors view a golden cross as a bullish indicator of positive momentum continuing into the longer term. Two of the following three names in the S & P 500 about to form a golden cross pattern are oil companies. The other oil company close to forming a golden cross is Occidental Petroleum . Two-thirds of those covering the company rate it a hold, and the average price target implies upside potential of about 4%.

CNN —Ohio’s Republican Senate primary on Tuesday – this year’s first test of Donald Trump’s clout in a contested Senate race – will help determine a key question this fall: What is the fate of Sen. Sherrod Brown and the Democratic majority? Despite already having clinched the GOP presidential nomination last week, Trump has a lot on the line in Ohio on Tuesday. “Trump endorsed Bernie Moreno for Senate.”But Democrats are also trying to use the former president’s popularity in this red state to their advantage. At over $40 million as of Monday, Ohio’s Senate race trails only the US presidential race, the 2023 Kentucky governor’s race and the 2024 California Senate race in total ad spending so far. “The person who clearly has the best shot of winning in the fall is Matt Dolan – I think our common sense tells us that.”But the governor’s backing could cut both ways for Dolan, Ohio Republican strategists told CNN.

That same day, Mr. Trump’s campaign announced that the former president would appear alongside Mr. Moreno on Saturday in Dayton, widely interpreted as a sign that Mr. Moreno could benefit from an 11th-hour boost. Simultaneously, Mr. Moreno and his backers have portrayed Mr. Dolan as not sufficiently supportive of Mr. Trump. After Mr. Trump overwhelmingly won the former battleground state in 2016 and 2020, Ohioans sent J.D. Image Mr. Moreno has been endorsed by, and campaigned with, several Republicans with ties to Mr. Trump, including Gov. Mr. LaRose and Mr. Moreno have banded together to attack Mr. Dolan as disloyal to Mr. Trump, while both Mr. Dolan and Mr. LaRose have accused Mr. Moreno of shifting his views on everything from gun control to Mr. Trump himself.

We spoke to Swisher on Monday to get her insight on some of the challenges facing the media and tech landscape today. And they didn’t anticipate that these tech companies were going to get into media. If so, why haven’t legacy media companies been able to lure in top tech talent to improve their products? Media companies do not get to live by the same anti-gravity rules that tech companies have been able to. But media companies didn’t offer the same kind of upside.

It is "an evident and overwhelming victory for the 'Yes' in this consultative referendum," said the president of the National Electoral Council, Elvis Amoroso. "The United States is currently reviewing our Venezuela sanctions policy, based on this development and the recent political targeting of democratic opposition candidates and civil society," State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said in a statement. Miller said the court ruling was a "deeply concerning decision" that ran contrary to the commitments made by Maduro to allow all parties to select candidates. Gerardo Blyde, head of the opposition negotiating team, denied members had been linked to acts of violence and demanded the court ruling be reversed. "We will never hesitate to remain in the talks, to remain in the discussion," said Hector Rodriguez, the ruling party governor for Venezuela's Miranda state.

Venezuelan electoral authorities on December 3 claimed that 95 percent of voters in a nonbinding referendum approved of the nation's territorial claim on a huge chunk of neighboring oil-rich Guyana. The 61,600 square-mile Essequibo region makes up two-thirds of Guyana, and holds enormous oil reserves off its coast. Venezuela believes that Guyana has no right to grant oil concessions in the maritime areas off the disputed territory. In 1899, an international arbitral tribunal awarded the territory to Britain, when Guyana was still under its colonial rule. Maduro in November accused Guyana, the U.S. and oil firms of robbing Venezuela of its territory through "legal colonialism."

New York CNN —Elon Musk desperately wants to be liked, despite his pronouncement Wednesday that he doesn’t mind being hated. The sentiment is, like so much of Musk’s public persona, a lie designed to keep the public’s focus squarely on him. Watching the interview, even online, you can feel the awkward energy of that moment — cringeworthy for some, but seemingly invigorating for Musk. On Wednesday, Musk sought to shrug off his most recent anti-Jewish post as a “foolish” mistake that got misinterpreted by the media. Musk clearly has “a fairly straightforward case of internet brain rot,” as the Atlantic writer Charlie Warzel put it in a Threads post.

The transaction might also create a peculiar coexistence of the United States' two leading oil majors in Guyana... Hess is geared towards crude production, with oil accounting for 60% of its current output which fits in very nicely with Chevron's similarly oil-focused portfolio. On the deal itself, the Chevron-Hess merger is expected to have a significant impact on the shale oil industry with Chevron becoming the second-largest shale producer in the United States. The merger is also likely to lead to increased M&A and industry consolidation in the North America shale sector.

“Succession” has treated us to both a wedding and a funeral as fate of the Roy siblings spin out towards its finale (which is produced by Warner Bros. Discovery, parent company of CNN), and its penultimate episode gave us mourning dress codes in a grand Catholic setting. “I can do anything — my dad just died,” Shiv responds when asked for a favor at the mass. By episode nine, with the company in a shaky post-Logan transition, the optics of how the Roy siblings perform at the funeral hold a lot of weight. Emotions must be stamped down, they maintain a fragile façade, and getting too close to the truth of Logan Roy is met with a wall of cognitive dissonance.
Donald Trump will officially not be testifying at his civil rape trial. The former president was given a deadline after telling reporters he would attend. Closing arguments for the case are set for Monday, and the jury will begin deliberating Tuesday. Despite these statements, his lead attorney Joe Tacopina insisted at the hearing that Trump waived his right to testify. Lawyers for Carroll and Trump did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.
Mr. Trump’s statement came after his lawyer, Joseph Tacopina, had said in court that Mr. Trump would not be coming to testify and that no witnesses would take the stand in Mr. Trump’s defense. It was unclear from Mr. Trump’s statement in Ireland whether he wants to testify or merely to observe the proceedings from the defense table. Judge Kaplan implied that Mr. Trump could face a contempt sanction. After Mr. Trump’s son, Eric, later in the day posted his own statement, on Twitter, criticizing the motivation of a prominent backer of Ms. Carroll’s case, Judge Kaplan implied from the bench that more serious remedies might be called for. Although he did not elaborate, he seemed to suggest Mr. Trump might be violating a federal law that prohibits efforts to corruptly influence or intimidate a juror in a trial.
DOONBEG, Ireland, May 4 (Reuters) - Donald Trump said on Thursday he will "probably" attend an ongoing civil trial in New York where he is accused of rape and defamation, repeating his denials of the allegations during a visit to his Irish golf resort. Trump also denied the accusation in a deposition video played on Wednesday for a Manhattan federal jury, as Trump sought to defend himself without testifying in person. The trial has so far run for six days and is expected to extend into next week. Denying the allegations in his deposition video, Trump accused Carroll of making up the story to drive sales of a 2019 memoir in which she made her claims public. Yannick Kergoat, director of "Tax Me If You Can," hopes the film makes learning about tax evasion fun. The French filmmaker had trouble getting funding and TV pickup for his new documentary about tax evasion, "Tax Me If You Can." He pretends you're in a bar to show you news footage about why the US is the country losing the most tax revenue because of tax evasion. Houser's course included movies like "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Office Space" to teach students about banking and economics of scale, respectively. The repercussions of tax evasion include "incredible increases in wealth for some and constant impoverishment for others."
Donald Trump told reporters in Ireland that he'll 'probably' attend his Manhattan civil rape trial. A judge has given Trump until Sunday morning to change his mind and decide to take the stand. Trump won't be coming to court to testify, Tacopina told the judge. "A few minutes before I came into court this morning," Tacopina answered. "And I think it's a disgrace," Trump told reporters, "that it's allowed to happen, false accusations against a rich guy, or in my case against a famous, rich and political person."
Trump golfed in Ireland rather than attend two significant Manhattan court cases docketed Thursday. He continued to skip the E. Jean Carroll rape-defamation case now wrapping in federal court. "I will probably attend," he told reporters of the Carroll trial. When Irish reporters asked Trump why he wasn't attending his Manhattan civil trial, he responded, "Because we have a longstanding agreement to come here." When one reporter asked whether he was showing "disrespect" to the court, Trump walked away.

Though in far different fields, men like Ye (formerly known as Kanye West), Elon Musk, Donald Trump, Johnny Depp and Sam Bankman-Fried will forever be linked by this ignominious characteristic. Over the past 12 interminable months, America has witnessed the rantings of Hitler-loving Ye; Musk’s edgelord trolling on his new plaything, Twitter; Depp and his toxic TikTok fanboys; and Trump being Trump on any given day. While seemingly not vain like Ye or Depp or openly thuggish like Trump and Musk, he nonetheless exhibits traits that point to something sinister behind the “just-a-regular-dude” persona. Trump seems to be losing ground, and Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee finally took down their “Kanye. Musk asked Twitter users whether he should step down as CEO, and they voted “yes.”Unfortunately, until we address roots causes, there will always be another blustering bully, another Trump, another Ye.

Powell as his "band of lunatics" have gotten inflation all wrong, Barry Sternlicht told Fortune. He criticized the Fed's delayed response on inflation and for reacting to lagging indicators. Its actions could result in a policy error that breaks trust in capitalism, he warned in the interview. I think they're just wrong," he said, slamming the Fed's inflation response an interview with Fortune on Friday. "You're going to have social unrest ... And it's just because of Jay Powell and his band of lunatics," he added.
